Volunteering

Family and community volunteers offer a huge resource and support base for our school while showing our children the importance of education. Not only will the school reap the benefits of your involvement — you will, too. Consider the many ways that you can be an important part of this incredible educational experience and contact our Family Liaison, Hope Sparrow, at 407-320-6011 or [email protected]

School Advisory Council (SAC)

Each year, parents are elected to our School Advisory Council (SAC). The purpose of the Council is to serve in an advisory capacity to the Principal and to assist in the development of the educational program, and in the preparation and evaluation of the school improvement plan.

Please Join the SCPS Title 1 Advisory Team

If you are parenting* a child who attends a Title I school and are willing to share your insights into how parents can work in partnership with teachers to better support their child’s academic achievement, the SCPS Title I department welcomes your application to serve as a member of a Title I advisory team. The team will recommend the types of information or resources that parents need to be actively engaged in their child’s education, and will guide the development of district Title I parent and family engagement plans. Team meetings will be held in March, May and October of 2024 and February and April of 2025 at sites and times determined to be most convenient for team members.

SCPS has a very diverse student population, including many racial and cultural backgrounds, various levels of income and housing situations, a wide range of fluency in one or more languages, students who struggle academically and students who excel, and students who benefit from Individual Education Plans or participate in special programs. Parents who represent the diversity in our student population are encouraged to apply. Your input will help determine how schools could best use Title I funds to increase student achievement.

*Parent/child relationships include a variety of adults who take responsibility for raising a child, including birth parents, adoptive parents, grandparents, stepparents, foster parents, and legal guardians.
