William and Aletha Hamilton, beginning in the early 1930s, worked to remove educational barriers, discriminatory practices and took this resolution into their own hands and with their minds, hands and hearts produced a difference for students and education in Seminole County.
With their combined service to Seminole County students of eighty-five years, Hamilton Elementary was opened in their honor in 1984, for their contributions to the field of education throughout Central Florida.
